There is much confusion in the market place regarding the current status, ownership and identity of the Forward brand and it’s relationship with 600 Group and Clausing. Hopefully the following will clarify the situation.

Forward Precision Tools and Machinery was incorporated over fifty years ago in 1956 by the late George Farago under the name Forward Precision Tools Ltd and has a long and distinguished history serving industry in manufacturing and metal working sectors in Canada. The company originally specialized in tooling and accessories and then branched out into machinery sales and became a full service machine tool dealer located for many years on Deerhide Crescent in Weston, Ontario.

In recent times the company has undergone several changes of ownership. Most recently the Company was owned by Nucleus Distribution Inc. and operated from their facility at 5220 General Road in Mississauga. Under their ownership the Company entered into an exclusive arrangement with 600 Group U.K. to sell the Colchester, Clausing and other 600 Group Products and operated under the name Forward 600 Precision Tools and Machinery to reflect the association between Forward and 600 Group.

As of 1st July 2009 the assets of Forward 600 division of Nucleus Distribution Inc were sold to 1106180 Ontario Inc. owned by Robert Jamieson a previous employee of Nucleus distribution and former President of Forward 600 Precision Tools and Machinery. The new ownership kept the same phone and fax numbers for the convenience of customers but moved the operation to 400 Matheson Blvd Unit 22 in Mississauga following the sale of the General Road facility by Nucleus Distribution Inc. The exclusive arrangement with 600 Group has been amicably terminated and 600 Group have re-opened their own operation in Mississauga .

Forward Precision Tools and Machinery will now return to selling it’s own private label machinery products, but will also continue to offer Clausing manual machinery, spare parts and accessories on a non exclusive basis, including the Pratt and Bernerd line. Forward will also continue to offer fine products from Newell, Dia Test and other first class manufacturers in the measuring and gauging world.

In addition the Company is entering the materials handling field with the addition of the Airfloat line of air bearing equipment.
